Payouts and your Stripe account
Your money goes straight from Stripe to your bank. How to see payouts, match them to gifts, and what DonorFinch can and can't touch.

DonorFinch never holds your donations. Gifts are charged into your own Stripe account and Stripe pays them out to your bank account. DonorFinch's 1.2% is deducted from each charge as an "application fee"; everything else is yours.
Where payouts are controlled
In your Stripe dashboard (dashboard.stripe.com), not in DonorFinch:
- Bank account on file: Settings → Bank accounts and scheduling
- Payout schedule: Stripe sets a default (commonly a rolling 2-business-day schedule for established US accounts, with a longer wait for brand-new accounts). You can switch to weekly or monthly payouts there.
- Pending balance and the date of the next payout
We don't quote payout timing on your behalf because Stripe decides it per account; check your dashboard or Stripe's documentation for yours.
Seeing payouts in DonorFinch
Open Reports → Deposits (or Bank deposits). Each Stripe payout is listed with its date, the amount landed in your bank, and the gifts it contains, broken down into gross gifts, Stripe fees, DonorFinch fees, refunds and disputes. The total always matches the bank deposit to the cent, which is what your bookkeeper needs. See Matching bank deposits to gifts.
What DonorFinch can do in your Stripe account
Through the connection you approved, DonorFinch can: create charges for your forms, issue refunds you request, read payouts and disputes, and register your domains for Apple Pay. It cannot change your bank account, move money to anyone but you, or see your Stripe login.
Disconnecting
Settings → Payments → Disconnect, or remove DonorFinch from Stripe's Settings → Installed apps. Your forms stop taking payments immediately; historical data stays in both systems; existing recurring plans can't charge until you reconnect the same Stripe account.
Common questions
A gift shows in DonorFinch but not in my bank. It's in Stripe's pending balance waiting for the next payout. Check Stripe's Balance page.
The payout amount doesn't equal the gifts. Fees, refunds and disputes are netted. The Deposits report shows the exact arithmetic.
Stripe asked me for more documents. Stripe periodically verifies account owners (identity, EIN, bank). Complete it in the Stripe dashboard; until then Stripe may pause payouts. DonorFinch can't do this for you, but the "Payments need attention" banner in DonorFinch will tell you when Stripe is waiting on something.
