Getting started
Set up your organization
Add your EIN, time zone, website and brand color so receipts and donation pages come out right from the first gift.

A few settings decide what donors see on your forms and receipts. Do these before you take your first gift.
Organization details
Open Settings → Organization in the left sidebar.
| Field | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Organization name | Shown on your donation forms, receipts and emails to donors. |
| EIN | Printed on every tax receipt. Receipts issued before you add it will not show it, so add it now. |
| Time zone | Decides which day a gift belongs to on receipts, in reports, and at the year-end cutoff. |
| Website | Linked from receipts and your hosted donation page. |
| Brand color | A hex value (like #1f3a5f) used as the accent color on your donation pages. |
Click Save.
Logo: there is currently no logo upload in Settings. Your donation forms use your organization name and brand color. If a logo matters for your launch, send us a ticket and we'll help.
Funds
A fund is where a gift is designated: "General Fund", "Building Campaign", "Food Pantry". Every organization starts with one default fund; gifts land there unless the donor or your form says otherwise.
- Open Funds in the sidebar.
- Click New fund, give it a name, and choose whether it is restricted (money the donor earmarked for a purpose).
- Mark one fund as the default.
You can let donors pick a fund on the form later; see Customize your donation form.
Campaigns and appeals (optional)
- Campaigns group gifts toward a goal with a start and end date ("Spring Gala 2026").
- Appeals are the specific asks inside a campaign (a mailing, an email blast), each with a short code you can put on reply cards.
Both are optional at this stage; you can add them whenever you start tracking results.
Your team
If more than one person will work in DonorFinch, invite them now under Settings → Team. See Invite your team for roles and what each one can do.
