The WordPress plugin adds a DonorFinch Donation Form block and a shortcode, and registers your site as an allowed website automatically.

1. Download and install the plugin

  1. In DonorFinch, open Settings → Website and click Download the WordPress plugin (a file called donorfinch.zip).
  2. In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the zip, click Install Now, then Activate.

2. Connect with a site key

  1. In DonorFinch, still on Settings → Website, create a site key (give it a name like "Main website"). Copy it; it's shown once.
  2. In WordPress, go to Settings → DonorFinch, paste the key and click Connect.

Connecting lists your published forms inside WordPress and adds your site's address to DonorFinch's allowed websites, so there's nothing else to approve.

3. Add the form to a page

Block editor: add the DonorFinch Donation Form block, pick a form from the dropdown, and choose inline or button mode.

Shortcode (classic editor, widgets, page builders):

[donorfinch form="general"]

Options:

AttributeExampleWhat it does
formform="gala-2026"Which form (its link name). Required.
modemode="button"Show a button that opens the form in a popup.
labellabel="Donate now"Button text (button mode).
amountamount="50"Pre-select an amount.
intervalinterval="monthly"Pre-select a frequency: once, monthly, yearly.
fundfund="building"Pre-select a fund by its name.

Troubleshooting

  • The form doesn't appear. Make sure the form is published in DonorFinch, and that caching plugins have been cleared after adding the block.
  • "Not connected" in WordPress settings. The site key may have been revoked in DonorFinch. Create a new one and connect again.
  • Moving domains. When your site's address changes, reconnect once so the new address is allowed.

Revoking a site key stops that WordPress site from listing forms; embeds already on pages keep working.
