Donors & imports

The donor portal

Donors sign in with their email to see receipts, statements and recurring plans across every organization they support.

Every donor has a self-service portal at app.donorfinch.com/account. It needs no password: they enter the email they gave with and click the link we send (valid 15 minutes).

What donors see

  • Giving history for every organization they've supported through DonorFinch, in one place.
  • Every receipt and year-end statement as a downloadable PDF.
  • Their recurring plans, with controls to update the card, change the amount, pause, skip the next charge, or cancel.
  • A warning banner when a plan needs a new payment method.

Donors see only their own gifts. Organizations see only their own donors; a donor's giving to another nonprofit is never visible to you.

How donors find it

  • A Manage this gift link in every recurring receipt email.
  • The Update your payment method link in failed-payment emails.
  • A link in the footer of every receipt.
  • You can link to it from your website: https://app.donorfinch.com/account.

Which email counts?

The one the donor typed on the form. The first time they sign in, earlier gifts made with that email (including imported history) are linked to the account automatically. If a donor has given with two different addresses, each one shows the gifts made with it.

What donors can't do in the portal

Change a past gift, edit their contact details, request a refund, or see other donors. Address changes and refunds go through your organization; see Issue a refund.

Staff and donors are separate logins

Your team signs in at app.donorfinch.com/login; donors at /account/login. If a staff member is also a donor, they use both, with the same email, and nothing crosses over.
